Writing a book is not a solo activity. One glance at the Acknowledgements section of the typical novel will tell you about the helpful advice, research assistance, development editing and so on that are gratefully attributed to a support team of family members, editors, fellow authors and ‘first readers’. This is nothing to be ashamed of; embracing the team approach is a learning point for any author.
After all, you are the one with a story burning inside you, demanding to be told. You have the ideas and the experiences and, crucially, the plot. The ghostwriter can help develop the outline – recommending that some scenes are given more colour and depth, suggesting some of the phrasing, advising on where the plot should go – and when everything is ready, pen the novel in your voice with your ideas.
